Grand River Bass Derby 2012

The 2012 Grand River Bass Derby , held July 8 & 9th, was won by by David Keffer. He is shown holding his 19 1/2" smallmouth bass that ended up being big enough to take first place and the $2,000 prize. Shown along with David are his sons Wyatt (orange top) and James (yellow hat) who served as his net men.

 
Entry Fees for the 2012 Derby were: Adult (16 & over) $20, Junior (9-15) $5, Youth (8 & under) were free!

2012 PRIZE WINNERS Adult Division 

1st Prize- $2,000 CASH won by David Keffer (& crew) 19 1/2" 
2nd Prize - $1,000 CASH - Ron White 19 15/32"
3rd Prize - $500 CASH - Tom Dumladovac 19 7/16"
4th Place - Prize Package - Patrick Jagieski 19 1/8"
5th Place - Prize package - Yuri Collesso 19 1/8"

1st - Lucas Cardoso 18 3/4" 
2nd - Austin Tasi 18 5/32"
3rd - Braden Restoule 18 1/4'"
4th - Tyler Kaenthongrath 17 15/16"
5th - Connor Kraghling 17 3/8"

The special draw prize in Junior Division in memory of Peter Frim was won by Robert Yantz. 


$1,000 for each of the two "Tagged" Fish. Neither was claimed during the Derby but there was still opportunity to earn a smaller prize if one of the tags was turned in to Natural Sports before the end of the year. (Sponsored by Logel's Auto Parts)

Grand Prize Draw - Winner of the Pelican Bass Raider Mini Bass Boat was Cara Fitzgerald 


The proceeds from the Grand River Bass Derby have been used to enhance the Stanley Park Optimist Natural Area on the Grand River near Victoria Street north. Future proceeds are also committed to maintain and develop this area as a key public access point to the Grand River, fish spawning area and wildlife habitat.
