The Optimist Club of Stanley Park

The Optimist Club of Stanley Park in Kitchener is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women banded together for progressive thought and action in community service focused on youth Members are motivated by the desire to contribute to the community from which they and their families draw daily benefits.

The purpose of the Optimist Club of Stanley Park is to :

* develop optimism as a philosophy of life

* promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs

* inspire respect for law

* promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people

* aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community, and world.

Our Club operates under the Optimist Creed

Founded in 1984, the Club has been working with youth in the Stanley Park Community through its Ball and other programs that annually engage hundreds of local youth. Over the years, the Club has sponsored numerous youth sports teams, funded the construction of a variety of outdoor sports structures and hosted an annual bike rodeo and events for challenged youth. The Club’s Grand River Bass Derby generated revenue that the Club used to establish The Stanley Park Optimist Natural Area on the Walter Bean Trail. With income from other sources, the Club continues to thrive under the Optimist motto of "Friend of Youth" enhancing the lives of youth in the Stanley Park Community and beyond through its programs, events, sponsorships and fundraising.
